Music Mondays

HAPPY BODY SLOW BRAIN

Since I have not been sticking to my new years resolution very well because I have been swamped with work from my job I have decided to make up for the days that I missed.  Since I missed Monday’s post, which would have been “Music Mondays”, I’m going to do that post today.

The band that I am going to talk about today it HAPPY BODY SLOW BRAIN. They are band out of San Jose California that I found out about because my band back in the day used to play with one of the members band called Tragety Andy.  The member that I follow from HBSB is also a former member of the bay area band Facing New York (who are also amazing and you should check out if you don’t know who they are) and Taking Back Sunday.  Matthew Fazzi started HBSB after his departure from TBS.  Their debut record is called Dreams of Water and has a very chill feeling while at the same time able to let lose and rock out.  The cd reminds me a lot of the PersonL with a very indie underground sound while at the same time drawing on the roots from which they the member were raised on which is punk.  If you have time to check out this band at a show or just buy their cd I think it would be totally worth your time to do so.

They have their album on their website so you can stream the whole thing. And if you don’t feel like doing that I’m sure that you can find it on Spotify.

If you wish to find out more about HBSB you can visit their Wiki.

Here is also a live video of them.

Last Sunday I was by myself and I was debating if I should drive up 30 minutes to go to the Woodlands from Houston to see this band called THE DAYLIGHTS. I had been told that they were amazing live and had never had a chance to see them in the 4 years that I lived in Los Angeles, that being the city where they are from.  I had been give then cd and I know a good amount of their songs. So even though no one was able to go with me I got in the car and make the 30 minute drive up to the Woodlands. It was a great thing that I did do that because their live show was all that I was told it would be. Not only did they play the songs great they sounded like they were a band that was much more then just three people.  I had not seen a non big band sounds that good in years since my days of watching The Matches and Facing New York.

If you ever have a chance to see this band live you  should totally go see them. After this one show i defiantly want to go see them again. Just next time I will have to remember to bring more lens for my camera because I only brought my one 50mm lens and it was very limiting to what I could take pictures of.

Pictures

I figured that I should actually for once post some of the pictures that I take and not just post other peoples work that I find on the internet.  So… here is some of my work…

This is one from Monterey CA.

My friend Justin was in the hospital and I took some pictures of him while he was in there. And if there is one thing that I have learned being in the ICU is serious stuff.

And I thought that this song was quite fitting for it.

What Sarah SAid

“And it came to me then that every plan is a tiny prayer to father time
As I stared at my shoes in the ICU that reeked of piss and 409
And I rationed my breaths as I said to myself that I’d already taken too much today
As each descending peak on the LCD took you a little farther away from me
Away from me

Amongst the vending machines and year-old magazines in a place where we only say goodbye
It stung like a violent wind that our memories depend on a faulty camera in our minds
But I knew that you were a truth I would rather lose than to have never lain beside at all
And I looked around at all the eyes on the ground as the TV entertained itself

‘Cause there’s no comfort in the waiting room
Just nervous pacers bracing for bad news
And then the nurse comes round and everyone will lift their heads
But I’m thinking of what Sarah said that "Love is watching someone die"

So who’s going to watch you die?..”

Some times sitting in the waiting room is the hardest part.

Pictures from a thanksgiving break in the snow!!!

At least this way if someone likes my pictures they will get out there now…
