Just because I used the word fixie in the title of my last post…would you rather have me say single speed non free wheel? That because the cog is bolted directly to the hub it makes it so that the wheel will be in constant motion?
But I guess them haters gonna hate…just got keep enjoyin the ride
Even though this music video came out last week I still want to post it just because I think that this is the best song on the new record. I’m super happy that they made this a single, well I mean how could you not make it a single it is just to good not to. Its a funny thing listening to Blink; it makes me wish that i could be young again and just not know what the future is. Before I grew up, when I was still wide eye and crazy to the dreams that I had. This song also sits in a special place in my heart because for some reason the words when I first heard the lyrics just seemed to be saying everything that I had been going though. It gave me hope and it just hit the right note with me.
The best part of this video is the scenes when you see the band playing because the where they shot that part is great and the way that they lit the lighting is even better.
So check out this video if you haven’t seen it yet.
Since I have not been sticking to my new years resolution very well because I have been swamped with work from my job I have decided to make up for the days that I missed. Since I missed Monday’s post, which would have been “Music Mondays”, I’m going to do that post today.
The band that I am going to talk about today it HAPPY BODY SLOW BRAIN. They are band out of San Jose California that I found out about because my band back in the day used to play with one of the members band called Tragety Andy. The member that I follow from HBSB is also a former member of the bay area band Facing New York (who are also amazing and you should check out if you don’t know who they are) and Taking Back Sunday. Matthew Fazzi started HBSB after his departure from TBS. Their debut record is called Dreams of Water and has a very chill feeling while at the same time able to let lose and rock out. The cd reminds me a lot of the PersonL with a very indie underground sound while at the same time drawing on the roots from which they the member were raised on which is punk. If you have time to check out this band at a show or just buy their cd I think it would be totally worth your time to do so.
They have their album on their website so you can stream the whole thing. And if you don’t feel like doing that I’m sure that you can find it on Spotify.
If you wish to find out more about HBSB you can visit their Wiki.
A few pictures of my new, or what was my new Bianchi Pista Dalmine. I wanted to take pictures of the bike before I rode the hell out of it. The bike is not this white anymore that’s for damn sure.
I’m not much of a drawer but I love to sketch but I’m not very good at it. So this is what happens when I get bored and I sketch.
I think I’m going to start to sketch places I would like to see in my life time. So here is the first in that group of of drawings that I am going to try and make.
Though he only starred in a handful of films, Bruce Lee’s hold on the world’s imagination is still as strong as his own steel fist. The actor and martial artist died on July 20, 1973, but he still lives on as a kung fu icon.
I went on Thanksgiving to see this movie in the only theater in Houston that was showing it. Its funny when I lived in SF or LA there would have been tons of places showing this movie now coming to Houston it was hard just to find a place that would have been playing it. My thoughts on the movies it that the first half was good; indie, but good. The plot was kind of predictable but in a way that one would expect an indie movie to be. They used some cool little shoots that made the movie more intimate to the view (like having tons of shallow depth of field). The problem that I had with the movie was in the second half. The fast pace feeling of their relationship slowed down and so did the movie. The second half dragged on and on. Maybe that was the intention of the director? To make the view as bored with their relationship as they were? They just end up running in circles around each other breaking up getting back together to the point at which I thought it might as well have been an episode of Gossip Girl. One of the highlights of the movie was that a lot of the places that they filmed at I recognized because they filmed it in LA and I have been to many of those locations. But other then that I feel that it was trying to hard to be a cool movie. They kept playing “crazy love” by paul simon also and that just seemed a bit to on the nose for me.
